Our generation usually fails in acknowledging the importance and greatness of this law. Before this, the vigent set of laws of the region was the famous Hammurabi Code, which stipulated that a master could harm his slave, once he had a much lower value. In the Mosaic Code, both master and slave have the same value, which means a slave could also retaliate a harm committed by his master in the exact same proportion.

This is a great lesson in ethics, because not only it treats all people equally, but also 

Am I applying this understanding of the concept of equanimity in my everyday life? Or do I consider myself more or even less than other people? If so, am I able to see and feel the manifested effects of this distortion?
