Parashat ‘Eqev

פרשת עקב

ספר דברים

"As a consequence"

Moshe promises in this parashah that the Lord will reward the Bnei Israel with prosperity if they follow His commandments; recalls several episodes of rebellion against God, but also His benevolence towards them throughout the 40 years in the desert. He clarifies that the manna served to remind that man must live on what comes from Him. Moshe describes the Promised Land as the land of the seven species, from which milk and honey flow, the center of Divine Providence. In this parashah, we also read the second paragraph of the Shemʿa, the profession of faith of the Bnei Israel.
