Sefer Vayiqra

“And He called”

To live amongst humankind, God needs a state of ritual purity that is the main theme of this book. He transmitis to Moshe the laws of purification, that must exist in all levels: in the tabernacle, in the camp, among the people on a collective and private level. This ritual cleansing is achieved through the offerings, or sacrifices, of animals and plants.

Aharon, Moshe’s yongest brother, is consecrated the Cohen Gadol |כהן גדול| (High Priest), position that will be transmitted from father to son, while the remainders of the Tribe of Levi will officiate in other jobs regarding the tabernacle and the sacrifices.
